The string can be one continuous piece or it can be two pieces that tie together on each side of the hip. How The String Bikini Originated, A Creation Of Desperation The history of the string bikini credits a Brazilian model, Rose de Primo for the actual creation of the suit, claiming that she was hired to model a bikini for a fashion shoot but did not own her own suit. In an effort to win the job, and with no money for which to spend on the purchase of a suit, she set about making her own at home.
